I had the same problem and updating to 714 seems to be better. So far, no complaints yet from any users. I understand this is related to POP before SMTP and was fixed in 714. There is supposed to be a newer update coming in about a week's time. Updating is so easy I would highly recommend running the latest version. 712 definitely has that problem.
