Re: Re4: problems with many users and mail relay
Hello,
I'm still researching the cause of this problem and I have not
found it yet, nor have I reproduced it, but I can give you a few
shortcuts (see below):

What to do?
Bounce your server. If it goes away the problem is probably caused by
Pop-before-SMTP getting confused ( and it will happen again! ).
What is "bounce your server"??????
"Bounce" the server, stop and restart it.
There is an easier way than rebooting.
Bring up a terminal window (Finder/Applications/Utilities/terminal)
type in:
sudo /usr/local/post.office/post.office shutdown
Wait a few minutes or run the command:
ps -ax |grep office
and when nothing shows up except the grep command itself, type in:
sudo /usr/local/post.office/post.office
This will restart Post.Office without rebooting. The shutdown
command above turns Post.Office off. To exit the terminal, type
"exit".
The safest and best way to do this is:
I thought this had beeen fixed in a recent release.
Just happened to my customer today.
Which release are you running?
The problem seems to build over time baseed on unknown factors. Since
99%+ of my users send through their local ISPs, I don't see it often, but
it should be fixed by Tenon.
They said it was fixed in the latest release, but this problem has
been mentioned and addressed many times on this list since then.
Like I said, with other Mail services (ISP, etc) this works and they are
also using Pop-before-smtp.
Not sure what you mean by "other Mail services (ISP, etc)"?
My customer has more then one Mail account and confirms that he can send the
same message with other ISPs just well.
As I thought. It's probably your P-B-S acting up. Symptoms are:
Multiple msgs. being refused after one ( non-local ) is
successfully sent.
Multiple recipients being refused after one ( non-local ) is
successfully sent.
All of the above will result in a "no relaying" error.
If anyone knows of any way I can reproduce this, this would help a
great deal in terms of my being able to troubleshoot the problem.
Thanks!
Sue
