Which mail clients don't do SMTP auth?

I got a Sprint Kyocera smartphone that came with Eudora for Palm that doesn't do SMTP auth. Maybe there is a new version that does support it. I have not checked. I still have users using old Netscape versions to check POP3 email. Due to address book compatibilities, many email users are hesitant to switch email clients. Of course, I would love to see PO allow SMTP Auth. I would use it in a heartbeat! ALONG with other ways to get by the SpamGateKeeper such as POP before SMTP and the specifically allowing by IP or by Envelope-From address (with suitable warnings).
