Yep, what he said. Heck even Win2K's SMTP relay client has
authentication methods... which is really what is needed. The buddy
thing is a work-around. What is needed is authentication on SMTP.

Sorry for being a Bob Minor, but I run several types of mail servers
and have NEVER had a problem locking them down. My communigate pro
server does just fine. My EIMS 3.0 does just fine, my iMail 7.0 does
just fine. However the wording on how to lock this server down is very
ambiguous, so no matter how many "Charles Ying's" there are please feel
free to rewrite the instructions within PO.

And except for Charles' exception to the rule I have NEVER seen a
situation where EIMS, Communigate, or iMail's solution doesn't work
just fine. Most ISP's provide an SMTP to there users for just that
reason, "Security". You shouldn't have to find a buddy just to have a
complete mail solution.
