Re: unable to import mailing list
Ok,
I found the answer to my own question. If anyone is interested, here's
what I went through This will work with any mailing list:
First, I exported my list from LetterRip and used the import letterrip
utility. Unfortunately, this only did a partial import, using only the
records that had a name associated with the email address. (Eric
offered a way to change the letterrip import script to work as well,
but I had already converted the lists in excel)
So next, following Bears advice, I imported the letterrip list into
excel and deleted the name column and re-saved.
Then, and this is the step that made it all work, I opened the file in
BBEdit and resaved it as a unix file (mac saves line ends as \r and
this didn't work. I believe unix is \r\n - you could have done All
this in BBedit, but I had already put the lists through excel)
then, using the following command, I imported the list with no problem.
./subscribe -f -q -i /Users/mail/test test
worked beautifully. Imported a list of 3600 in a few minutes.
Thanks for all!
Jim
