Restricting relay of your SMTP server shouldn't have any affect on the other
issues that you have - being able to check your mail or a message about an
unknown user. Did you change any other settings outside of the "restrict
mail relay" settings?
You shouldn't need to enable any ip addresses for mail relaying - I only did
that to get around the POP-Before-SMTP problems that a few of us have had,
and I just haven't cleared that out yet.
