Post.Office
No. DNS only links names with IP addresses. You point it at the port using
a router or a NAT firewall (Network Address Translation) on your router.
Most all routers have NAT capability.
For example, on my home network, I have the URL
http://www.<myhomenetwork>.org:8080 pointed at the internal network address
192.168.0.205:80 where there is a web server running. The name part of the
URL is resolved properly by the DNS. The router (ipNetwork running on an
old mac) re-routes all access from the first URL at port 8080 to the web
server running on port 80 on the internal system.
