Can you import your mail from Mail.app into Thunderbird, or does it only import from previous version of Netscape Mail?

Apple's mail.app is awful awful awful with IMAP. You might want to try another client and see if it works better. I personally prefer Netscape's Mail client. There is a standalone version of this project (just mail and news, no browser) called Thunderbird. Thunderbird's project page is here:

Hi!

since some Weeks I am evaluating post.office.

I installed the demo version on a PowerMac G4 running OS X 10.2.6 acting as the mailserver.
My client, a second powermac connects with Apples Mail app to that post.office server (IMAP mode).
The server handels internal mail and gets every 10 minutes new (internet-)mail fetched by an program running
on the server into the inbox of a user on the post.office server.

Right from the start I noticed a permanent loosage of mails in the inbox !!!!
I cound not find out who/what deletes them or what happens.

A second issue is that OS X Mail.app shows every mail in a folder stored on the IMAP post.office server
as a new subfolder of the folder were the mailmessage ist stored in.

Last thing is, I have some mailfolders with a larger amount of mails (app. 10000).
When I move that Folder to an IMAP server-folder browsing the content is simply impossible.
The server is waaay to slow!

Can anybody give me a hint whats going wrong there?
