Which version of PO are you using? I and others had this problem way back and folklore from this list was that it has something to do with the new POP before SMTP feature added by Tenon to the software.com code. I think my symptoms diminished to a manageable level (i.e. I can convince my users that they were seeing things when they try to complain to me) sometime near the 717 release.

These days, there are so many ways you can point fingers ("Your spam filter must have trapped that message!") that Tenon is working on giving us SMTP Auth so we can turn off POP before SMTP, I think.

I still get my SMTP server stuck so it won't send mail. When that happens, I don't even bother to check it. Just reboot like the old Webstar 4 days. The good thing is that when your smtp server is stuck, you get called by users almost instantly. "Why can't I send mail?"

Charles

Hi,

Anyone seen this behavior from PO before:

Users on the system can send email out to one or two mail recipients, but
when anyone tries to send to more than 2 addresses, SMTP-Accept process gets
locked up in the process list for hours and the message never gets sent. No
error from the email client until I kill the obdurate process.
