weird problem: can't send to multiple recipients?

Hi,

Anyone seen this behavior from PO before:

Users on the system can send email out to one or two mail recipients, but
when anyone tries to send to more than 2 addresses, SMTP-Accept process gets
locked up in the process list for hours and the message never gets sent. No
error from the email client until I kill the obdurate process.

No errors in PO log that I can see.

Very few SMTP filters:

one RBL with relays.osirusoft.com
two spam magnet address filters
one Subject blocker

And I don't think the filters are the problem since they should just filter
and spit out a message, right?
