I have a mailing list where users are complaining that Reply-To isn't
working properly. The list is set up with what appears to be the correct
additional header:

Reply-To: listaddress@xxxxxxxxxx

and apparently some mail is indeed behaving correctly. The header appears
correct to me, so I have two questions:

1. Has anyone encountered anything like this, or know of any obvious thing
to look for on the server side? By all appearances, everything is set
correctly. The fact that some mail behaves correctly makes me think it's
not a server issue, but if this behavior is something someone has seen
previously, I thought I'd ask.

2. Does anyone know of any mail clients that might habitually ignore
Reply-To headers? I can't imagine that any do, but perhaps my users have
some bizarre client software that is overriding the Reply-To header.
Does Hotmail mess with Reply-To headers?

Harry,

I have precisely the same problem. I didn't realize till just recently that some people on the list *were* getting the correct reply-to and some were not. I tried using a header rewrite to force the user's return address on but that didn't seem to help. I thought perhaps it was a client issue also since we use a FirstClass system and accompanying client software but if you have the problem too it sounds like that's not the case. The one's that do not get the sender's return address get the mylist-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx address. Is that what you are seeing?

So I think it is a Post.Office bug, or perhaps a corruption of a list or something. I am going to try examining the logs more closely but I don't know how else to explain users on the same list not getting the same return address.
