I checked my messages folder, and there were 5000 messages in there, 
a sampling showed it was all spam to addresses that don't exist on my 
domain.  I deleted them with rm and xargs, and then P.O decided to 
kill me by giving me 5000 error messages, that it couldn't find the 
messages I deleted.  I have no settings to "email postmaster" on 
errors: log them, delete undeliverable mail, and no email to 
postmaster, yet it didn't delete the messages, and generated 5000 
error messages that Mail.app choked on when I deleted them myself.

So just deleting these messages was a bit of a fiasco, for me, anyway.
