Here's an example:

The log file will record this:

20031121092331-0800:SMTP-Accept:Connect:[69.64.70.53]
20031121092331-0800:LoadHostFilterTable: loading name: Filter-Header desc:
20031121092331-0800:LoadHostFilterTable: loading name: FilterDynamicHost desc: Blacklist_Server_Lookup
20031121092331-0800:LoadHostFilterTable: loading name: Spam-Assassin desc: Spam-Assassin-Filter
20031121092331-0800:IN: HELO out-53.ci.directid.net
20031121092331-0800:OUT: otis.kaiwi.com
20031121092331-0800:IN: MAIL FROM: <q39293LS001XI001227669EA@xxxxxxxxxxx>
20031121092332-0800:IN: RCPT TO: <marc@xxxxxxxxx>
20031121092332-0800:IN: DATA
20031121092332-0800:IP Filter Match: Name: FilterDynamicHost Filter Src: relays.ordb.org,bl.spamcop.net,sbl.spamhaus.org,dnsbl.njabl.org Filter Dst: <default
20031121092332-0800:IP Filter: FilterDynamicHost MATCH: IP Src: <q39293LS001XI001227669EA@xxxxxxxxxxx> IP dest: <marc@xxxxxxxxx>
20031121092332-0800:OUT: Ok Send data ending with <CRLF>.<CRLF>
20031121092336-0800:OUT: otis.kaiwi.com Mail Transactions between these Addresses Prohibited
20031121092336-0800:SMTP-Accept:MESSAGE DISCARDED
20031121092336-0800:IN: QUIT
20031121092336-0800:OUT: otis.kaiwi.com ESMTP server closing connection
20031121092336-0800:SMTP-Accept:Close:[69.64.70.53]:5:0:19691

Then these files are stored in the /messages folder:

-rw-rw---- 1 mta mail 19056 Nov 21 09:23 20031121172332.AAA10481@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx@out-53.ci.directid.net-Body
-rw-rw---- 1 mta mail 748 Nov 21 09:23 20031121172332.AAA10481@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx@out-53.ci.directid.net-Header

So, I guess it was deliverable mail until an IP Filter MATCHed it and stored it there.

Junk or not -- is what you see deliverable mail?

I have been reading it via the "more" function. It's junk mail addressed to my domain (s). I can watch the PO logs and see that each time a SMTP filter MATCHes and DISCARDs the file the file is then put into the messages folder where it remains until I manually delete it.

I have my Error Response Parameters set exactly as you have described.

That's amazing. Try viewing some of the mail in the folder (new receipts), see who the mail is addressed to and who it the reply_to -- bet its not your users. If so, re-set your "Error Response Parameters" as the snapshot to get PO to delete it.
