Jason,

As outlined in this thread, the "messages folder" accumulates mail delivered to Post.Office, but not yet delivered to the individual user's mailboxes.

So, if you are accumulating a lot of mail in this folder you may be a "open relay"; verify your relay and POP before SMTP settings.

Also, set your "Error Response Parameters" to "return messages from Unknown Users" and to "Delete Undeliverable Mail"; ie (see below):

I have that problem as well... I have to go into that folder about once a week and manually delete the message in that directory. I've never read a definitive reason as to why it occurs. Does anyone else know what's going on there? I'm still running v717.

I never have any message in that folder.

From what I understand you should not either, because its the mail delivered to Post.Office, but not yet delivered to the individual user's mailboxes -- and if that's not happening promptly, something may be wrong.

Granted, I "return mail" that is addressed to unknown users -- guess if you were not doing this you would have some mail accumulate in that folder.

How did you collect the stats on the filters?

I just totaled up my OSX_mail_client's junk folders and deleted folders, since each was directed to it own mailbox; ie: spamcop@xxxxxxxxxxxx, spamass@xxxxxxxxxxxx, etc.

OSX_mail_client generally catches 99.98% and puts in the Junk section; thus I can review and/or search the full text if I want. I have it set to keep the junk for a week -- the Junk section maintains aprox. 30,000 SPAMs for a moving week.

I'm not sure if SA will "auto learn" out-of-the-box, but its doing a great job for me sitting behind the RBL's -- I disabled all of my blocking (John's list) to let it "work" and all has been excellent with zero false positives.
