I don't move the mail the OSX_mail_Client does -- it automatically moves junk to junk_folder when marked as such. Same for deleting mail.

I have my IMAP checked to keep "all" on the server, thus I don't mess with moving the mail around. I did test and see your issue; ie: read junk_mail moved to the in_box will be marked as unread. Actually, my Client's junk_filtering is so well "trained" I never move mail; if I need to respond to junk, I respond from the junk mail list vs. moving it. In any regard, has Tenon said this was a server or client issue?

They said they observed it in Mail.app, but my post was meant to confirm that it happens more universally: namely, in Mozilla as well. It isn't something exclusive to Mail.app at all. And I wanted to know if anyone out there had a workaround for the behavior.

I have perhaps fifty different IMAP folders, all on the server, and filter incoming mail into a dozen or so automatically, and move much of the rest by hand into other folders: it's not just Inbox and Junk for me. I am looking for a mail client that handles caching folders much more quickly than Mail.app, so I'll try Entourage, loathe as I am to do so (I hated the feel of it the first time I tried it).
