I ask because Anita sent me the following (my comments in brackets):

"Rick, SpamAssassin works flawlessly on Panther. My understand from talking to Sue is that you had modified your SpamAssassin by hand-editing specific configuration files. {All I did was I a /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf file.}

When you install SpamAssassin with Post.Office on Panther and simply use the SMTP-Filtering to invoke the SpamAssassin plug-in and do whitelisting via the same form, everything works beautifully. Sue is trying to get you back to the as-delivered system. {Is this really whitelisting?}

You can understand that there is no way that we can support the full functionality of SpamAssassin, using UNIX command-line editing. We leave this door open for all of our UNIX-savvy customers, who don't want to have less flexibilty than they would have, for example, on Linux. (The customer-supported Wiki deals with this aspect of SpamAssassin.) But we also provide a complete point and click experience for people that would rather not deal with UNIX command-line editing. This is the configuration that we support."

We are "messing" with the local.cf file. We have a substantial number of "whitelist_from", "whitelist_to", "all_spam_to" entries and we're very happy with it. Combined with Razor, it's a nice setup. So nice, in fact, we've added to the backup mail server as well.

Just curious. How's it going for those of you who use it? Are you able to keep it from flagging outbound mail without having to mess with a local.cf file?
