Re: Problems with Post.Office and Return Receipt from Outlook 2003
|
Sue, at Tenon, discovered that the problem was that whenever a
return receipt was generated the header contained From:
<>. This was getting caught by my RBL filters. Once I
temporarily bypassed that particular piece of header information in
the filters, the return receipt went through just fine. Upon further
investigation on Microsoft's website it seems that this particular
problem has been occurring with regular frequency by other users of
Outlook 2003. It seems that the only way to avoid the problem (until
Microsoft comes up with a fix) is to go into the email options in
Outlook and set it to always refuse to send a return receipt. I just
thought someone else might find this information useful.

We are having a unique problem here. I
just set one of my employees up with a new PC. It came with Outlook
2003. Every thing seems to be working fine with one exception. When
this person receives an email requesting a return receipt and she
clicks yes, an error occurs between Outlook and the server.
Unfortunately this error does not go away by rebooting Outlook or the
PC. Every few minutes Outlook tries to send the return receipt and
fails. Below is the error message showing up in Outlook. Please
remember that this employee is able to send and receive emails. This
error ONLY occurs when trying to send a return receipt.
