Jim,
Type following command in the Terminal:
locate clamd.log
This should give you the location of the clamd.log and then you can
see what it's doing. However keep in mind that clamd limits the log
size to 1 MB (if I'm not mistaken). Unless you change the settings of
clamd, it will stop logging to that file when it has reached the size
limit.

PS: The latest release of clamd is 0.83 http://www.clamav.net -- you
might want to download the latest source and compile it on your
Post.Office server to get the best possible anti-virus protection.
