One question you all need to ask yourself is what would you pay for this co
lo service? As a Mac only ISP we provide all the below. Meaning every
service we run is on a Mac. We use APC MasterSwitch's to reset any hung
server. We back up everything to tape every night with Retrospect. The only
requirement we really force on everyone is to install Macsbug so when your
machine has a problem it really crashes and Timbuktu to get it going again.
That way we get a page within 2 minutes. Also nothing can be in the start up
folder. That is the hardest way to find a crashing problem there is. You
just set aliases out on the desktop labeled startme first, second and so on.
That way when the technician restarts the apps if one is having a problem it
can be fixed right away. If you use filemaker you have a choice of running
off our server or using an applescript to quit filemaker and copying your
files to another directory then restarting filemaker. That is the only way
to have a good backup of your filemaker files without running server.
