It ran faster for me when i had it installed from the website download and
not the cd itself - also, I could better tweak the squid cache settings
which is what I think had it running faster. By this I mean I set them by
editing the squid file itself and set it to the commented recommendations
there-in - this is not possible with the subsequent re-installs from the CD.
the very same squid file that was running fine the moment before returns
huge errors and refuses to run under the CD install.
my previous letters to the list asking for an explanation of this have gone
unanswered. I believe it has something to do with the "select loop called "
::Select loop called: 101822 times, 616.527 ms avg.::
as I said in previous posts, this figures used to be in the 100's of
millions and average time was around 1 to 9 milliseconds - it did not get
reset to zero upon a server restart like it does now, after installing from
the CD.
I imagine one needs to have to tenon spend time on one's machine in order to
"tweak it" - pity they like wasting their time and money instead of simply
providing better documentation.
