More Performance Questions

I had tenon look at my httpd.conf file and make some changes to the 
directives and this did make the system run a little faster.

I also switched to dual stack and this helped as well.

However, we are still having a speed problem. Here is what we are seeing:

The DNS lookup happens quickly and then browser contacts the site. Most of
the time, it will come back pretty quickly with the text of the page
(sometimes it will take 30+ seconds before it gets the text of the page) and
then it will go and try to get the images. Then it will stall.

There is a long pause and then some data comes in really quickly and a
couple of images appear. Then there is another long pause and then more
images show up. This process repeats until the entire page is loaded. The
pauses between the display of images can be from 10 to 30 seconds.

We are doing this test on ethernet. The client machine has 10 Base-T
ethernet and the server has 100 Base-T ethernet. Both machines are connected
to a swith (not a hub).

As I was experimenting I found that WebTen gets slower and slower as virtual
hosts are added. I tried a setup with 3 or 4 of our domains and it responded
much quicker. As I added domains back (I added 10 to 20 at a time), WebTen
slowed down. We have nearly 100 domains.
