There is acutally plenty of space for 4 Cubes to sit comfortably on a
rack mounted shelf. As far as air flow, I put my hand over one of the
cubes running at MacWorld and could actually feel air moving through it.
As far as iMacs we have a slew of them running just fine without cooking.

The key to keeping servers from over heating is a properly controled
climate. We keep room with about 80 servers at 70 degrees at all times.
Also, as far as Rack Mounting Macs, you can always look at Marrathon,
(http://www.marathoncomputer.com/) or use Baker Style Racks. Good
airflow, scalable, and perfect for strange boxes.
