Re: iMAC on 9.0 webten 3.0.4
Can anyone email me their system extension list for a BARE minimum
setup for extensions on running OS 9.0.4 on an iMAC with webten
3.0.x. (you can export the list as text in Extention Manager)
I want to be as lean as possible. This could make a good FAQ or whitepaper....
Thanks...

My rule of thumb is to turn off all the sprocket stuff - it's just
for games. and all printer stuff I don't need.
Then there is modem stuff that isn't needed. Also, turn off the
"recent apps", servers and docs in the Apple menu.
Removing or turning off other stuff has tended to cause trouble in my
experience. Even if the server doesn't need it, sooner or later, I'll
need a diagnostic tool or something and it won't work because of
something I've done.
I once managed to kill Sherlock by trying to be too clever and turn
off unneeded stuff - then I couldn't do a find when I needed to
located just one html doc 6 layers deep. And I never did figure out
from the extensions manager what had gone wrong, even turning
everything back on didn't fix Sherlock - I had to do a system
reinstall to get it working again - and that was certainly more
trouble it was worth.
