Default Root

Spent a couple of hour with the docs, didn't find an answer to this one,
probably too obvious:

Is the default root always the folder where the webten app is? ...or could
I define the default root in some way?

I'd like to have the app outside the default root if possible, because I
use the tenon stack for webserving and apples own to enable file sharing
connections to the virtual hosts folders.

Of course I can add a folder like this and alter the virtual hosts root in
the admin settings:

WebTen Folder
       I
Websites Folder containing WebTen
       I
New shared folder
       I
virtual hosts folders

.... but it would be neater to just alter the default root.
