I am using WebTen 3 and want to set up a server here at home to host a few domains off the same server. I have one IP number (no option for more), three different domains, and a dns server at my ISP. Can I point all three domain names to the same IP number?

How do I go about this? I suppose what I need is virtual domains but after going through the WebTen manual and trying some things out I cannot seem to get it right.

I have tried to change the domain name that is shown in the preferences from my ISPs domain server name to my registered domain but WebTen keeps changing it back and so I cannot establish this server for one of the domains.

Michael,

Sure you can have lots of hosts/domains pointing at one IP number, then each needs a virtual host entry,

If your ISP's DNS server is your DNS server, then that should stay in the prefs. You will need to have DNS entries for each domain/host - contact your ISP about that. Once thay have set up the DNS entries, you should have no problem adding the individual hosts to the WebTen virtual hosts.

If the ISP does not want to do DNS for additional hosts, you can do it yourself in WebTen, although you will need to have secondary DNS from somewhere - either your ISP or by trading with someone else.

Are the domains registered yet?
