Hello
At present, I have a Mac 8500 (with an upgraged / faster processor)
on which I have WebTen 2.10 as a Web-server, Stalker Internet Mail
Server for mail, and Timbuktu for remote administration. Also, I have
a WebTen 3 license which I bought but this is not yet installed due
to other important work I have to do.
Now I want to start to host some Filemaker databases. I would rather
not like to install the FM server on the same physical machine, since
sometimes it appears to be slow already now. I could get a used PMac
8100/110 (free!) or a beige G3 minitower (not free!) as a second
server. Of both machines, I do not know the RAM and drive
configuration, but it is probably not more than 64 MB RAM and 1 GB
hard distk space.
So, what would be the best setup here?
1) take WebTen 3 and SIMS on the G3, and use the 8500 for Filemaker?
2) take WebTen 3 and SIMS on the G3, and use the 8100 for Filemaker?
3) take WebTen 3 and SIMS on the 8100, and use the 8500 for Filemaker?
4) take WebTen 3 and SIMS on the 8100, and use the G3 for Filemaker?
5) Leave WebTen* and SIMS on the 8500 and use the G3 for Filemaker?
6) Leave WebTen* and SIMS on the 8500 and use the 8100 for Filemaker?
* I think I should install the version 3 anyway. Or should I better
stay with 2.10?
Thank you for all suggestions.
Christian.
