 No, in fact, it doesn't know it's there, you need to add a dns entry for
 www.domain.com and an alias for it in the http.conf file, there is a place
 for the virtual host are for the domain.
Software is not as yet intuitive, it must have proper input.

That's fine, but you do need to have entries set-up in your ISPs DNS if you want to add those hosts on your end. I did a DNS lookup for "umpire.softballnews.com" and it looks fine.

 But I have a question about
putting an alias in the http.conf file.  An alias of what? The domain folder
(directory)? The index.html page? What?

??? I don't know what you are referring to. What do you think you need an alias to do?


I have now succeeded in being able to consistantly open the Tenon home page
that comes with the distribution. With WebMail, I was able to set up an
account.
  But I still cannot go to the interface to check the mail. When I
click the link shown on the Tenon Home page I get this message:

  "Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable
to complete your request.

Yes, I see that too.

Are
there any volunteers out there that can Timbuktu to my server and help me
get WebTEN and WebMail going?

Just give me your info privately, and I will.
