 When I install WebTen and enter my preferences, particularly Domain Name,
 I'm able to get access to the home page that come with WebTen. But when I
 reboot the system, my domain name gets changed to my ISP's network
 gobble-de-gook and I can't access -anything- on the server. I have to
 reinstall the server. What is going on?


 In TCP/IP control panel, under search domains, put your domain in
 first, before your ISPs. Weird, but that's how it works.


Stephanie, I entered a domain name in the TCP/IP search domains box in this
format:  sportscore.com
then hit the return key to move my ISP's search domain to the second line.
You were right that the domain name now shows up in my preferences. But when
I enter "www.sportscore.com" in a browser I get a 404 error in the Access
Log.  So the server knows that domain is there. But it won't download a

page.

What is the path in the log that is getting the 404 error?

Then I tried entering the IP name (I guess that's what it's called) assigned
to that IP address in the TCP/IP search domain box:  umpire.softballnews.com

It, too, shows up in the preferences, but when I try to get access with a
browser, I get the 404 error.  On my very first install of WebTEN I entered
this "umpire.softballnews.com" into the domain field and I was able to
download the home page. But on reboot, as I mentioned, I got a 404 error.

umpire.softballnews.com is not really a domain name, with all of these changes, the chances are good that the configuration is messed up.

Another question is, I've installed WebMail Pro and I can -never- get access to anything on it. I click the link on the default web page and I just get nothing.

You never get an error? this is strange. the links on the main webpage assume you are browsing from the localhost. Is this the case?

Stephanie, don't they have to sign up for webmail first?

You could check accounts on another server if you want, so -no.

I cant' get to the
signup page on Webmail.

Do you get an error?

 I can't get to the Admin page on Webmail. I can't
get to anything on webmail.  Isn't it useless to try to access your webmail
if you haven't signed up for an account?

No.

This is what I'm talking about. The server doesn't seem to respond to any
request for the default home page, or to a cgi interface.

 That we can come back to, I've never used web event, so I don't have
 advice on it right now.

 Try that search domains thing in TCP/IP, I think that will fix it. Let me
 know.
