Terry,
Hi again,
I got hold of a pair of 10/100 PCI Ethernet cards to day & followed
the instructions that Tenon support left on the list regarding using 2
cards, each with a separate IP address & thus run WebTen & NetTen in
'Replace Open Transport' mode.
I suggested that you should probably try to run NetTen on
OpenTransport. You won't see much speed increase on Tenon Stack.
I went to the Multiple Ethernet Card white
paper, but couldn't get the IP addresses to respond, so have reverted to
using 1 card in OT mode until I can get this sorted out.
Basically, the setup will be:
Power Mac 7300 with built in Ethernet - IP 203.53.37.167 (for using any
other OT apps)
Ethernet PCI 1 - IP 203.53.37.162 (WebTen in Tenon TCP mode running DNS)
Ethernet PCI 2 - IP 203.53.37.166 (NetTen running in Tenon TCP mode, using
WebTen for DNS)
This is what I suggested _BUT_ NetTen will not be able to use Tenon
Stack, and will not be able to talk to WebTen because they are on
separate network stacks - use the netmask trick mentioned in the
paper.
Could you run through a simple guide for me. Nothing I have tried
from the Multiple card paper seems to have worked. I'm using OS 8.6 & can
see all 3 Ethernet Interfaces from OT TCP control panel (i.e. built in -
PCI 1 & PCI 2)
Thanks for your help - I really need to get this working ASAP.
Also, can you offer any advice on setting up the Analog log analyzer? Ive
had no responses as yet from the mailing list.
I don't really know much about Analog. The itools list might be able
to help too.
