WebTen
As reported here earlier, if the mail server SIMS is running on my WebTen
machine, then WebTen crashes near the end of its startup process. I found that
if I first start WebTen, and then when it is completely started up, start SIMS,
the two get along nicely. So, I use an AppleScript to launch WebTen, wait for a
set delay, then start SIMS. I put the script into the Startup Items folder and
all is well...
.... Until I have a crash or other problem that makes WT take longer than
normal to start up -- Fast File First Aid can churn for quite a while, under
those circumstances. What happens then is that the script launches SIMS before
WT has completed starting up. When WT gets near the end of its startup
sequence, Crash...
So, it there any way, via AppleScript, to query WT and test to see if it is
completely started up? I'd like to make my script loop, checking for WT startup
completion, and only when WT is completely started, start SIMS.
The alternative is to use a worst-case delay between starting WT and SIMS. But
who knows what a worst case is?!?
