Transferring SSL Files

I need to install a ".crt" and ".key" file from another Apache server. The 
WebTen instructions for importing SSL files refer to importing files exported 
from a previous version of WebTen. Do I need to "Import" these files or can I 
just place them in the proper directories? If I recall, in normal 
circumstances, these directories are hidden from me, so, must they be imported? 
CAN they be imported, given that they were not exported from WT?

I also have the certificate file ".txt" as delivered by the CA. Can I just 
install it that way, as if I submitted the CSR (which I didn't)?
