WebTen
WebTen uses SSLeay which is effectively mod_ssl
I've acquired a site that used to be run on (Dare I say it?) "real"
Apache. Ok, ok, "regular" Apache, if you know what I mean.
The Thawte SSL cert lists this domain as having previously been
served on "Apache-Mod-SSL". Does this same "Mod-SSL" apply to WebTen
or is it a different version of SSL on WebTen? Or does it matter?
The certificate with key can be moved directly over. SSLeay is just
an old version of mod_ssl, or the name before it was open sourced.
If I recall, I need to generate a new CSR because of the IP address
change -- that, and I don't have the old cert anyway.
No, you don't. The certificates only hold name information, not IP info.
If the IP address change does not require a new cert, then would it
be possible for me to plug the old cert into WT, presuming I can get
it from the previous admin?
Yes, but you will need the corresponding private key also. If they
are hosting other SSL sites, then this is probably a long shot. If
that was the only SSL site running on that machine, they might give
it to you.
