WebTen does not have a problem with cnames.

WebTen does a lookup to the specified DNS server.  If the server 
cannot get the entry it will return a 'no such host' error. There is 
really no such thing as a recursive lookup from the client side.  The 
server either returns the requested info or it returns failed, and 
WebTen will wait for the response.  If your DNS is set up correctly 
it should get the entry in well less than a second.

If OpenTransport and WebTen have different specified DNS servers, 
this could be the problem.

Open a shell window and type:

ping www2.thecassandraproject.org

Does it return an error?  If it works correctly you may want to 
restart the admin server.  If it does not work correctly, reset the 
DNS server for WebTen and restart it
