WebTen
It is REALLY annoying to have WebTen repeatedly tell me (when trying
to add a Virtual Host):
\\Domain Name lookup failed. Add 'www2.thecassandraproject.org' to
your DNS Server.
Why does Wt come back with a failed DNS lookup so very quickly (less
than a second) rather than wait for a recursive lookup to succeed?
I can open another browser window, enter
www2.thecassandraproject.org in and go to the server, so, if a web
browser can find the host, why the heck can't WebTen? These should
be no problem whatever since the DNS server that is configured for
WebTen is also authoritative for thecassandraproject.org. I don't
get it.
Does WT have a problem with CNAMES?
Welllll, cnames do require two lookups, one to get the hostname the
alias is pointing to, and then a second lookup to get the IP address
of that host. It shouldn't be a problem, but perhaps that second
lookup isn't happening fast enough.
