WebTen
>I'm getting the hang of perl cgi's with webten. Now I'm ready to start
using scripts that use MySQL.
A script that I have requires....
A MySQL database.
Module DBI and DBD::mysql installed on the server.
For MySQL database authentication mod_auth_mysql.
Where do I get them? And do they work well with WebTen?
No, they don t work well with webten, I may be wrong, but I don t think
there is anyway to add perl modules to webten s perl.
Robert Brandtjen
Hi again,
Perl modules can be added to WebTen (I've never done it myself
though). Someone posted to the list earlier this year regarding doing just
that. Anita has said that WebTen doesn't support MySQL though,
That's not quite accurate. MySql is a separate application, an open
source database application, and WebTen *can* interact with it via
CGI (script).
MySQL does not run on Mac OS 8 or 9, so it needs to be run on an OS
that it is made for - Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, Windows NT, etc.
WebTen supports it just fine as long as the MySQL database itself is
running on an appropriate platform. What you need on the WebTen side
of things, is some kind of CGI that lets the server talk to the
database. PHP is often used for this, but other options can be used
as well.
