External permanant redirects?
I have a folder on my server that has been moved to another server
and rewritten. The files no longer correspond to the ones here, so I
want to redirect any request for something in that folder to the new
server URL. I tried using a 301 "Permanantly Moved" Redirect, both in
the virtual domain and in the main section of httpd.conf and it
doesn't seem to work. The comments in httpd.conf imply that redirect
is used when the file structure is the same, but the server is
different, so a request for index.html to mine would be converted to
www.newserver.com/index.html. (Actually I was given only an IP to
forward to. ) I have changed links to that section, but want to
provide redirects for people with bookmarks or search engine results.
How do I do this? Thanks.
Michael
