Another angle on the whole crashing thing:
How do you folks launch the apps on your server at startup time?
A while back I put a whole load of aliases to frequently used apps in
the startup items folder of my desktop machine (Umax clone running
8.6). My impression was that this had a very negative impact on
stability, which I thought might be related to the apps all being
launched within seconds of each other. For example, the Finder would
launch other apps while Eudora / IE were still starting up & showing
a splash screen.
Anyway, I now use Keep It Up on my server which has the ability to
launch items with a specified delay between each launch, and I find
my server very stable.
Just a thought....
Also, is the Lasso 'crash on quit' issue related to a particular
version of Lasso? I've recently upgraded to OS 9.1 & the latest
version of Lasso (3.6.6.2, I think) and I've been suffering 'crash on
quit' ever since. I don't know whether it's related to the upgrade
or whether it's something like a corruption of the Lasso data file.
