When I run nslookup against your domains pulling the data directly from your
local nameservers, ns1 and ns2, I get a reply of "Can't list domain
thecassandraproject.org: Query refused"

If I check against eaglecrest.jurisdata.net, I can pull the data.

I don't know who'd supposed to be primary, and who's supposed to be
secondary, but I'm willing to bet you're having the long domain name
problem.

Also, and I could be wrong, but I would assume that the dotted IP address
would need the terminating period as well just to be safe.

that suggest? That the WT machine had a "failed" lookup in its cache? That
the cache entry had expired by morning and the lookup then succeeded? "

Open the shell window and type in ps ax to list the active processes. See if
named is running. This is beginning to sound eerily like the dying DNS issue
we had on our last reinstall.
