WebTen 3.0.3 - log rolling - crash
Greetings,
Running WebTen version 3.0.3 on a first generation G4 which is running MacOS
9.1 and NetCloak. Virtual memory is on and memory assigned to WebTen has not
been changed from default. Squid Cache is off. There are 6 virtual hosts.
Overall this server has been running smoothly.
and then
Approximately 7 days ago I started directing transfer and error logging to a
"logs" directory located within each virtual host. The "logs" directory in each
domain has the same owner/group privilege as the primary "logs" directory and
is not accessible other than by the site's builder.
and the above works fine and dandy....
what does not work - consistently - is log rolling and
compression.
At scheduled time/s the log to be archived always moves to the appropriate
archive directory but on occasion (often enough to be a problem) WebTen will
quit after the log has been moved.
I began with the basic log rolling script provided from Tenon's site and when
that did not pan out began editing so that the file would simply be moved
without subsequent compression. This did not improve matters.
Script has also been modified to move log files to archive directory first -
then stop/start Apache - then compress file. No resolve.
Also modified the script to use a graceful Apache restart. This variant has
also failed to provide relief.
Yes - do plan to move on; but would appreciate some possible resolves so this
might work in the interim.
thanks
