Well, lets take it one step further -
Apache is easy to do - it really is - I will post an example VH container.
If this machine is to be a pure server, then why bother buying Apple period?
OSX at this time is not as advanced as the old OSXS (version 1.2) which will
not/is not (be) as stable is a raw intel based Linux machine.
RH linux gets updates out to subscribers of RHN (red hat network) orders of
magnitudes faster then Apple has ever/most likely ever will. I have found
them to be an awesome company to deal with- no shit. Further, the first
machine can subscribe for free. THeir tech support is very good and the Apple
file sharing protocol is excellent. My macs think they are talking to a mac
server.
Now, the hardware savings are tremendous alone ( my latest dual P3 1.2 ghz
rack mount box with build in RAID and 1 gig of ram was only 1,200.00 USD)
Linux is free, webmin is free., ergo, another 500.00 USD savings - your boss
will love that - and the savings should be enough to buy a second machine for
you to play on, so to speak.
