Man, your a crack-up - you have no idea what your talking about - you cannot
even begin to compare the two - I know, I was a user of OS8.x and OS9.x tools
- no where near the POWER or stability or actual ease of use.

Agreed... except for my being a crack-up that is. But my real question is why I should use iTools? If I have to learn a bunch of Apache stuff and if Apache is already on the Xserve I intend to buy, then what function does iTools serve? Apparently it doesn't protect me from having to delve into the intricacies of apache.conf files... so why should I buy it? Just so sometimes I can use a browser to configure my web server?

iTools does shield you from the intricacies of the Apache configuration files. That's exactly the point of iTools. It has a browser-based gui for the set up and management of Apache, DNS, FTP. Just like WebTen (which you are familar with).

I thought that *at least* it would help me transition from Tenon WebTen to Tenon iTools. From what I'm hearing, there isn't even any help on the Tenon web site, other than that one little page. And it seems like people indeed need help.

Am I missing something here? Tenon really doesn't provide any more help than
that?

Tenon provides lots of help. A good place to ask about this is on the iTools list itself. It's also the best place to get transition questions answered. There is also a FAQ,
http://www.tenon.com/cgi-bin/faq/faq.pl?iToolsOSX
an Installation Guide, User Guide, and an iTools Manager Guide. The iTools Manager is an Aqua GUI alternative to the web-based (WebTen-like) tools.

And there are package installers for the popular open source tools, such as PHP, Tomcat, MySQL, etc., and even a commercial package for Active Server Pages.

And, finally, a new WEBmail & WEBcalendar.

I suggest that you give us a call and talk to one of the tech support engineers about your particular transition. For example, you may want to leave some virtual hosts (with Mac OS-specific plug-in support) on Mac OS 9, while you move other and new virtual hosts to Mac OS X.
