In my experience, ninety-nine of one-hundred causes for slowness, rather
than failure, are caused by bad DNS entries. Make sure DNS for that
machine is setup correctly.

Jon Nolan
Web Dynamics, Inc.

Jon is exactly right. Squid is especially sensitive to DNS problems.

the nslookup utility is an important tool in diagnosing these issues. it can be run from the Terminal.app in OS X server or the shell in WebTen. an example session might be:

#nslookup
Default Server: <yourdefaultns>
Address : <defaultnsIP>

tenon.com

Default Server: <yourdefaultns> Address : <defaultnsIP>

Name: tenon.com
Address: 192.83.246.5

any errors reported could indicate a serious DNS problem.

I've installed iTools onto OSXS according to the directions, but now
my webserver responds _very_ slowly, if at all. When I have managed
to get the admin page loaded, I have found that the only time the
site responds is when I click two or more times on a link. Is there a
known bug that I didn't download an update for?

There are some bugs in the latest OmniWeb (delivered with OS X 1.2) that may cause it to lock up the admin server or require buttons on pages to be double clicked.

My system is a G4 450, 128MB, OSXS 1.2, WebObjects 4.5, OpenBase
6.0.9. Everything is freshly installed; nothing is currently running
on the box. I was hoping to test iTools after reading through the
Tenon site, but the 'test' isn't going well.

Does anyone have any insight to what might be the problem?

FYI: I requested the index.html from the box when I started this
email and it still hasn't served...there's obviously something wrong.

Check through your latest: /Local/Library/WebServer/Logs/apache_error_log.<longnumber>

and email any relevant errors to support@xxxxxxxxxx List some of your domains and I would be happy to check for any obvious issues.
