Re: iTools/WebCatalog Slowdown issue
Ok, I've commented out the line instructing WebCatalog to start with
FastCGI, I deleted the old 4700_WebCatalog file in etc/startup, replaced it
with the file from smithmicro's ftp site, and rebooted the machine.
I still get the following message on startup:
Tue Jan 30 08:52:57 EST 2001
/usr/sbin/apachectl restart: httpd not running, trying to start
[Tue Jan 30 08:52:59 2001] [warn] Loaded DSO
/System/Library/Apache/Modules/mod_webcatalog.so uses plain Apache 1.3 API,
this module might crash under EAPI! (please recompile it with -DEAPI)

/usr/sbin/apachectl restart: httpd started
Since I don't need WebCatalog, I've searched for documentation for
uninstalling or disabling it but the info on this list is all I've found.
Perhaps I simply need to delete
/System/Library/Apache/Modules/mod_webcatalog.so? I suspect not because
something or other needs to be re-compiled perhaps?
I presume that the warnings I'm seeing are yet a different problem. They
began showing up after upgrading to 5.019 (MOSXS 1.2) And let me provide a
preemptive "Yes, I installed the new SSL" as well. ;)
The box serves fine with the exception of needing apache restarted every few
days, presumably because of a FastCGI memory problem. On the other hand, the
above messages can't mean all is well in web-ville.
