iTools spawning tails (Was:Re: Tech Support policy question...)

As Eric said, the answer is yes.  However, this may be a 
manifestation of the fact that previous use in WebTen required a 
re-open due to the emulation of the UNIX file i/o on top of the Mac 
OS file system.  We may not need to do this in OS X.  This needs to 
be investigated.
