Hi Alain,
I have found too many problems with squid, and most of my pages are
dynamically served so it's benefits did not effect me too much. You should
be able to turn on the logging for squid, and allow the referrer stuff in
the squid config. The squid logging writes better virtual host logs than
httpd does for some reason. It will log full host names with the requested
path info. The non-squid logging will only log the path and give you the
ability to add a host somewhere else in the logging string.

The standard way my iTools (without Squid) set up my logging looked like it
included referrer but having the word "Combined" on the end of it in my
virtual host admin. I removed this word with preceding spaces and the
logging started to work correctly.

I also have logging set to log into each virtual host separately by
specifying different paths to logs for each host, if you try this make sure
you point to a folder that exists. I had a spelling mistake once and Apache
did not restart and I was lost as to why, I had to go into the httpd.conf
and fix it manually.

FunnelWeb can be automated, but I found it crashed on my Mac/Tenon server
when there were corrupt lines, plus every time I downloaded a demo I got
umpteen calls from their pushy sales team.

I am currently trying out Summary http://Summary.Net/, it is missing a few
of funnelwebs abilities, but adds some also, plus it is only $299 for the
pro as FW enterprise is something like $1400. For me it does not crash and
has a nice search ability in most of the logging pages for narrowing down
areas of interest. It just works, which is music to any webmasters ears.

Hope there is some useful info here.

All the best,

Paul
