I have the same problem, did you resolv this?

Make sure that the group for those directories is "ftpguest" and that the folder is group writable. You will have to do this in a terminal window, and be logged in as root to change the permissions or group.

Because the OS updates include server stuff, any update you do after installing iTools may change things and break it. One of the OS updates (either 10.0.3 or 10.0.4 had changes to ftp), and can cause this to happen.

If it broke after updating, you can reinstall just the ftp server portion of iTools. The itools.updates file stores information about versions and what's been installed, so go to that file (in /Library/WebServer/tenon/logs/), open it and edit it to remove the line that refers to wu-ftp, save the file.

Then remove the iTools.pkg file from the /Library/Receipts folder.

At that point you can reinstall iTools using the package installer - it won't know that ftp was previously installed, so it will install it with the correct stuff.
