I can lend you my copy of O'Reilly's "sendmail" by Costales and Allman.
It's about 1,000 pages, cryptic as hell and requires knowledge far
surpassing file permissions, etc. But, going sendmail alone is a worthy
exercise and might generate some appreciation for the iTools solution.
Another option: purchase Tenon support and they might be happy to work
through your seemingly unique problem.
