.htaccess example?

A little off of the subject of iTools. . .Can someone post an example of
what a .htaccess file is supposed to look like so I can make one?  Or at
least offer a link with info on the syntax of one?  I could not find much
info out there.  Looked on apache.org and stepwise but to no avail. . .
