No, In fact you should not be root. you should be an admin user.
Gosh! I received your answer too late. Is that a problem if
I did the install as root? Shall I reformat and reinstall everything
(currently MacOS X S, update and itools 6.1 that's all) ?
No, the problem is really with apple's installer. It will tend to
hang about halfway through through the install if you are root. If
you did not experience this, then you should be fine.

Yes, they are all compatible with 6.1
I was not clear enough in my question.
First some facts: MacOS X Server 10.0.0.0 comes with php files all
over but php does not work with the default Apache install. Try
putting a test.php page containing <? phpinfo(); ?> you'll get a
download box in your browser. Mime type setup on the server seems
to be OK. I could not figure out why this happend.
Hmm, this is almost certainly a Mime problem. If you could send
your config file to support@xxxxxxxxx I will look for the correct
MIME for PHP.
Then the 10.0.0.4 server Update readme files states that it add MySQL.
BUT nothing seems to work, no mysql process launch at startup, and
doing a ./bin/safe_mysql create errors, etc.
So my real question is: is Installing iTools 6.1 and the (obsolete)
php/mysql package is the way to go, or is there some kind of
magical things to do to make iTools6.1 works with the PHP and
MySQL that are already included in MacOS X Server 10.0.0.4?
I think getting apple's PHP may just be having a mime problem. It
should work by default with iTools. Send support a login if you want
and we can check out the problem.
Additional question: Is Apple so stupid to upload software that
does not launch?
Yes. Probably stupid is not the correct word though. It can be
difficult to make sure that a config works with every machine. If
you write the operating system though, it should be easier..
Probably I am the stupid person as I can understand what's happening
why nothing is working and can't find any informations : Doing a search
on the techdatabase of apple with 'PHP' return ONE irrelevant notes.
Feel a bit lost in a world with no community and no ressource center.
Well, tenon is probably the best community for this type of help.
apple is not selling OS X as Unix and will not support it as such. On
the other hand, we are happy to support unix questions
> >- can I install the iTools SSL feature on the download page?
Yes
Seems that SSL is now part of the default 6.1 and that no
additional install is needed. Am I wrong?
You are correct. sorry about that mix-up.
