iTools
Howdy:
I used grep recently to check my iTools.log file for instances of exe
requests to see how bad we were being hit by the Nimda Worm ( results:
over 90% of the log, or about 500+ hits/min. ).
Since these hits will drastically alter the stats I report to my
clients, what I need to know now is how to do a grep that DOES NOT show
certain patterns ( kinda like grep NOT exe ), so I can dump the good
lines to a new file.
Checking "man grep" ( to me anyway ) didn't offer any clue how this
might be accomplished. Anyone have any suggestions to offer?
Thanks for your time and help in this matter.
Glenn
P. S. Keep an eye on your logs and free space ( df cmd. ). I first
noticed the problem when I did a routine check on free space and found
very little available, which could start choking the system.
